On August 21, Yanshan Petrochemical successfully hosted the Technical Exchange and Framework Agreement Signing Ceremony on Nanofiltration (NF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane Products in Zhanjiang. Representatives from Sinopec Group’s Chemical Business Department, Yanshan Petrochemical, Zhongke Refining & Chemical, as well as delegates from the Materials & Equipment Department, the Chemical Division, and 13 affiliated chemical enterprises attended the meeting. Discussions focused on enhancing product quality and service performance, as well as expanding the application of NF/RO membranes within the Sinopec system.
Mr. Yang Dong, Deputy General Manager of Sinopec’s Chemical Business Department, fully recognized the achievements of the NF/RO membrane R&D and production team and outlined requirements for the next stage of work. He emphasized the need to align with national strategic priorities and to understand the significance of building Yanshan Petrochemical’s High-Performance Membrane Industrial Base.
Against the backdrop of a new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation, and in light of the challenges facing the chemical industry, Sinopec’s “15th Five-Year Plan” places innovation-driven development at its core. The establishment of the High-Performance Membrane Industrial Base carries strategic importance for extending Sinopec’s industrial chain and advancing technological innovation.
Mr. Yang encouraged Yanshan Petrochemical to continue its market- and field-oriented tradition, deepen external cooperation, accelerate technological breakthroughs, benchmark against global leaders, and overcome key technical bottlenecks. He reaffirmed Sinopec’s strong support for the project in terms of resources and policy, calling on all affiliated enterprises to strengthen collaboration, build a unified innovation ecosystem, and reduce overall operating costs, thereby injecting new momentum into the high-quality and sustainable development of the chemical sector.
Mr. Zhao Huanqun, Deputy General Manager of Yanshan Petrochemical, welcomed participating representatives and expressed gratitude for their long-term support. He noted that under Sinopec’s strategic guidance and with the support of peer enterprises, Yanshan Petrochemical’s NF/RO membrane products have achieved successful applications within the system.
He highlighted that the constructive feedback and higher expectations from attending enterprises not only serve as recognition but also as motivation for future progress. Yanshan Petrochemical will further improve product quality, optimize production processes, and reduce manufacturing costs to create long-term value for both customers and partners. The company will continue to pursue “one-stop customized solutions” and leverage technological innovation to drive high-quality development across the membrane sector.
Mr. Liang Chaojie, Deputy General Manager of Zhongke Refining & Chemical, stated that the company would continue expanding the application of Yanshan Petrochemical’s membrane products, aiming to establish a demonstration base for the large-scale adoption of domestic high-end membrane materials within Sinopec. He encouraged Yanshan Petrochemical to keep refining its technologies, focusing on membrane applications in chemical water treatment and process water reuse, as well as exploring new possibilities in seawater desalination and wastewater recycling.
He also suggested developing customized solutions for chemical water system upgrades, enabling membrane technology to become a key enabler for process optimization and energy conservation.
During the meeting, Yanshan Petrochemical — as the production entity — gave a comprehensive presentation on its NF/RO membrane products. Zhongke Refining & Chemical and Zhongtian Hechuang shared their demonstration application results, confirming the reliability and performance of Yanshan Petrochemical’s membranes. Participating enterprises expressed strong recognition for the product quality and technical support, and provided valuable feedback and suggestions regarding future product requirements and procurement plans.
In recent years, Yanshan Petrochemical has made the construction of a High-Performance Membrane Industrial Base a key driver of its transformation toward high-quality growth. Together with other Sinopec subsidiaries, the company has advanced a comprehensive program covering NF/RO membrane production line construction, automation system upgrades, performance enhancement, and demonstration applications （supported by intelligent machines supplied by Foresight).
After nearly three years of continuous effort, the membrane products have achieved domestically leading performance benchmarks. They are now widely applied in wastewater treatment, demineralized and purified water production, leachate treatment, and material separation, with industrial-scale adoption achieved across multiple Sinopec affiliates, including Tianjin Petrochemical, Zhongke Refining & Chemical, Cangzhou Refining, Luoyang Petrochemical, Ningxia Energy & Chemical, Zhongtian Hechuang, SINO-Korean Petrochemical, and Jianghan Salt Chemical.
